Self-Drive Desert Safari Abu Dhabi
Prefer to arrive in your own car? Our self drive desert safari Abu Dhabi lets you drive to our desert camp, park, and join the evening safari from there. No hotel pickup and no waiting for a bus. From the meeting point, our drivers take over for the dune bashing in our own Land Cruisers, followed by a camel ride, sandboarding, a live BBQ dinner and shows. It is the same safari as our standard evening tour at AED 40 per person, because you skip the transfer.

How the Self Drive Desert Safari Abu Dhabi Works
- Book and get the location. Send the form or message us on WhatsApp. We reply with the meeting point and a timing confirmation.
- Drive to the meeting point. Arrive between 3:00 and 3:30 PM. [CONFIRM: a normal sedan can reach the meeting point / a 4×4 is needed.]
- Park and switch vehicles. Leave your car safely parked at the camp. Your car does not go on the dunes.
- Dune bashing with our driver. You ride in our air-conditioned 4×4 Land Cruisers with roll cages and seatbelts. Our licensed drivers handle the dunes, so you can relax and enjoy the ride.
- Sandboarding and sunset photos. We stop at high dunes for sandboarding and photos as the sun goes down.
- Camp evening. Camel ride, Arabic costume photos, tea, coffee and soft drinks, then the BBQ buffet (veg and non-veg) with Tanoura, belly dance and fire shows.
- Drive home. You return to your parked car at the end of the night and leave whenever you like.
Self Drive vs Standard Evening Safari
The experience at the camp is identical. The difference is the transfer. On our standard evening desert safari (AED 70) we collect you from Al Wahda or Safeer Center by bus. For hotel or home collection, see our Abu Dhabi home pickup safari (AED 150). Self drive is the cheapest option if you have a car and are comfortable finding the meeting point.
Who Is This Safari For?
Good fit: residents and visitors with a car, budget travellers, families and groups who want to arrive on their own schedule.
Skip it if: you do not want to drive after dark, or you want a hotel pickup. Choose the pickup packages instead.
